The Monacus Project

Since the Archivio di Stato di Firenze organization decided to give online access to all the Mediceo avanti il Principato archival fund, the researchers of the whole world benefit a lot from the easy access and the incredibely high quality digitalization of the documents.
Unfortunately the only available indexation of the fund is still the aged four volumes inventory of F. Morandini and A. d'Addario done between 1951 and 1963.
Our project has been done to address the issue of giving a modern indexation to the Mediceo avanti il Principato fund by creating two spreadsheets containing all the lettere and all the documenti of the four volumes of the Inventario (over 53 000 records). In addition to these spreadsheets, the project includes also a report of all errors and mistakes found while reading the four volumes to create the lettere spreadsheet.
The monk's work of the project has been performed by a team of two persons. Daniel Guimond, Project Leader, is an I.T. Specialist retired from the CBC/Radio-Canada Corporation and has a Bachelor's degree in History from the Université du Québec à Montréal. Alexandre Guimond, consultant on the project, is doing his Bachelor's degree in History at the Université du Québec à Montréal.
